Fairy Tales and Reminders

For the past week and a half, we have been learning all about Fairy Tales.  We have talked about different parts of a fairy tale and how most of them have a similar theme.  Last week we read several different versions of Cinderella, including the original, "Cinderella Penguin," and "Rufferella."  We made lists of the similarities and differences in the stories.  We have also visited some other familiar tales such as "Hansel and Gretal."  This week we have been reading "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," "Dusty Locks and the Three Bears," as well as a different perspective of the story called, "Bears Should Share."

The kids have done an awesome job on decorating their bears at home.  They are having a great time sharing those with the class.  I am so impressed with the creativity!  We will finish off our Fairy Tale unit this Friday with Bear Day.  Please have your child bring their favorite teddy bear from home.  If they don't have a teddy bear, a similar stuffed animal will be fine.  We will be doing all kinds of activities with our bears.  I am looking for a couple of volunteers to send in some teddy grahams for a graphing activity.  I need 2 boxes of chocolate, 2 boxes of honey, and 2 boxes of cinnamon teddy grahams.  If you can send in a box by Friday, please let me know.

We will be starting our Fall unit next week and I will also need some items sent in for that.  I am looking for 1bag of regular candy corns, 1 bag of Indian corns (The candy corns with the brown instead of yellow), and one bag of Fall M&M's (they have orange, black, purple, and green M&M's.)

Upcoming Dates to Remember:
