Spring Time!

Hello all! It has been a busy couple of months and I thank you all for your continued support during what always seems to be the craziest times of the year! I loved seeing so many of you at Muffins for Moms on Monday.  The kids did a great job and had so much fun getting ready to sing for you all! I also want to thank all of you who chaperoned and/or joined us at the park last week! Bud's Best Cookies was so much fun.  I think that the kids really enjoyed the tour and especially the free cookies:)

We do have one more field trip this year.  We will be going back to The Lovelady Center on Friday, May 4.  There is no limit on the number of chaperones, so we'd love to have you! We'll be working on a Mother's Day craft with the children at the Head Start Preschool that is at Lovelady.  If you've never had the opportunity to go, it is always a special time and you will no doubt, be blessed by the experience.

Our class had the opportunity last month to join one of Asbury's senior groups during one of their monthly meetings.  The kids sang and visited with the folks and as always, were a huge hit.  They've asked them to come back, so Ms. Gina and I are coming up with some games and activities that our class can do with the ladies and gentlemen next week!

We've been busy continuing to study about plants and animals in "My Big Backyard." The kids planted bean seeds a few weeks ago and we have loved watching them grow! I began sending some of them home today and are waiting for a little more growth before I send the rest home.  We have also been talking about caterpillars and butterflies and the stages of metamorphosis that they go through.  This week we have been learning about the life cycle of a frog as well.

I am starting to work on our end of the year assessments and will be sending home progress reports in May.  I will be holding conferences if you are interested.  If you have already met with me this year and do not feel the need, that is fine, but I will send home sign ups for conferences in the next couple of weeks.

Next week we will begin our Farm unit that we'll do for three weeks and from there, Kindergarten countdown... then school's out! Hard to believe!

Please mark your calendars for Friday, May 18.  That is our Pre-K Five graduation ceremony and luncheon.  More information will be coming home in the upcoming weeks about that.

Please also note that we do not have school this coming Friday, as it is an inclement weather day for Shelby County.

If you have not heard, our Kindergarten program is expanding and I am just thrilled! We have hired Alyssa Thornell, who is currently a teacher at CASA, as a second Pre-K Five teacher for next year.  Alyssa also holds a degree in Early Childhood and I know that she will be an asset to our program.  I am especially looking forward to having another teacher to work with.  Thank you all for your continued support of CASA.  We couldn't be growing like we are if it weren't for awesome parents like you- (and of course your wonderful children!)

On a complete personal note, if you, or someone you knows is looking for a tutor for this summer, I will be tutoring.  I am going to get a flyer out soon- but just spread the word if you know of anyone who's looking.  I am certified pre-k through 3rd. Thanks:)

Blessings to you all!
