Welcome December!

Hello sweet parents! I cannot believe that December is already upon us.  I know that we have a busy few weeks ahead of us and I am looking forward to all that is to come.  We have lots planned and I thank you in advance for all of the help and support this month!

Thanks to the moms who helped with our craft day yesterday.  We have made some sweet ornaments that the children will bring home in a couple of weeks. This week we are going to be talking all about gingerbread men.  We have several different gingerbread stories that we are going to read and some fun activities to go along with them.

We will perform our Christmas program, "The Many Shapes Of Christmas," next Monday, December 9.  That will be followed by a brunch.  We will also perform on Tuesday, but our class will not be eating on that day.  You will need to send a lunch for Tuesday.

Next Wednesday, December 11, we will be visiting Ridgeview Nursing Home to sing Christmas songs with the residents there.  Parents and/or siblings are welcome to attend.

Our class Christmas party will be on Wednesday, December 18 at 12:00.  As you can see, we have so much to be thankful for and so much to look forward to! I hope that you and your families all had a blessed and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday last week.  I am including some pictures from the past month or so here at CASA! Thanks for all you do!

Fall news

Wow- it has been an eventful few weeks!! Between Old Baker Farm, Harvest Hoedown, trick-or-treating at the nursing homes, pumpkin carving, and a visit from the firemen, we have been on the go!! This week we have finished up our unit on Fall. We went on a fall leaf hunt on Monday and collected all kinds of leaves. We compared and sorted them by color, shape, and size. We have read some new books and have been working on rhyming words, clapping syllables in words, and continue work on our letters of the week. I also have been doing fall assessments with the children. I will be setting up conferences for the week after next. Notes will come home next week with conference time choices.

One really special treat that we enjoyed this week was a visit from Carter's grandad, who owns an Italian Ice Truck. Carter helped serve Italian Ice to our class for his Star Student treat-what fun!

We have no school on Monday. Enjoy the long holiday weekend! I will upload pictures soon of all of the fun we've been having!! Thank you for your continuing support! Julie

I have added lots of new pictures from the past few weeks! We finished up our unit on Community Helpers and on Fairy Tales.  You will see pictures from some of our moms who have come to read for Star student, others of the children busy working on crafts and projects in the classroom, and of course, from our fabulous trip to the Pumpkin Patch yesterday!  I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at Open House on Thursday night.  The classroom will be opened from 5:15-5:45.  Dinner will be available until 6:30 and the silent auction will be open from 5:00-6:30. Have a wonderful evening!
